Recap from Wok Star Supper Club at Ghee Wynwood

May 21, 2025 By Eleanor Hoh Leave a Comment

The Dean of FIU Hospitality & Tourism Management, Professor Michael Cheng gave me a stamp of approval at Wok Star Supper Club collab with Ghee Wynwood. He’s also a fellow Malaysian, so of course we bonded over our favorite Malaysian dishes—and the sad lack of them here in Miami. Stay tuned… we’re brewing up something at FIU!

Wok Star Eleanor and Dean FIU Hospitality, Professor Michael Cheng

I got so wrapped up making sure everyone was having a good time (and organizing group shots!) that I completely forgot to take videos.

One of my favorite parts of hosting these is curating the guest list—pairing like-minded folks at the table. A last-minute reservation from a hospitality finance guy ended up sitting with two chefs and an Event Producer and Wok Star! Perfect mix.

Everyone raved about the 3-course, 13-dish Tasting Menu! I shared fan favorites from 1st & 2nd course! Thank goodness my friend captured some beautiful food shots.

🥁Thanks Chef Niven & Shivani and partner Mo for wonderful collaboration.

🥁Thanks to GM Mariana and the whole team for making it go so smoothly!

🥂Thanks to Pietro Morelli sponsoring Dona Rosalba rosé! So many have begged to purchase but be patient, soon!

It meant so much to receive messages like these after…

“Such a great event! You outdid yourself, Eleanor!! The food and company were both outstanding! Great connections. Thank you again for all your hard work doing this.” — Tobie

“All of it was very good down to the desserts. We’ll be looking forward to our next meet up.” — Love, Gayle & Kirk

Nights like these remind me why I started the Wok Star Supper Club in the first place—to bring interesting people together over great food and meaningful conversation. Can’t wait to share what’s next! 🥢🥢🥢

CURATED 4-COURSE MENU

You’re in for a treat, what an incredible menu. Chef Cesar Zapata and Ani Meinhold have curated a four-course dinner showcasing Phuc Yea’s blend of unique, bold Southeast Asian and Latin flavors, all designed to be enjoyed family-style. As Ani mentioned, “Mixing temperature and acidity and crunch is very important to our dining experience.” They’ve organized a Vegan menu as well.

GOOD FOOD & CAMARADERIE !

Best part about these gatherings? Since I know most guests from my wok cooking classes or through networking, I’ll organize the seating with like minded people. Guests have said how much they enjoyed meeting new friends and had a great time at my past events. So, if you’re single, you won’t feel lonely!

SPREAD THE WORD…

Share with work colleagues and friends you think would enjoy this one-of-a-kind dining experience which you wouldn’t get if you went on your own. It was specially created for this exclusive Wok Star Supper Club!
