Yue Chinese Hosts Wok Star Supper Club — One Night Only!

July 4, 2025 By Eleanor Hoh Leave a Comment

Don’t miss the next Wok Star Supper Club at Yue Chinese, a stylish new Northern Chinese restaurant tucked on charming Española Way & Drexel in South Beach — happening Sunday, July 13 at 6PM.

Yue Chinese collaborates with Event Curator & Producer Eleanor Hoh (@wokstar) to bring her popular Supper Club to their cozy dining room. What used to be a clubby bar now glows with Art Deco colors, custom embroidered peacock panels, vintage lacquer cabinets, and design details personally chosen by owners Jay & Sherry Zhao and shipped from China.

WHAT TO EXPECT

For one night only, guests will enjoy a 5-Course Tasting Menu ($78pp), including a welcome rosé from Doña Rosalba.

Expect bold Northern and Szechuan flavors like Spicy Cumin Lamb and Black Truffle Angus Beef Xiao Long Bao. A vegetarian menu will feature dishes like Pan Fried Tofu in sweet soy sauce and a braised Wheat Gluten with mushrooms — a nod to traditional Szechuan roots.

It’s all about classic Northern Chinese and Szechuan flavors in a modern, neon-lit Miami setting. The night is rounded out with a curated wine list by sommelier Christina Sun.

On every menu, they’ve added their mantra: “At Yue Chinese, dishes are designed for communal enjoyment — bringing people together around the table.”

Recap from Wok Star Supper Club at Ghee Wynwood

May 21, 2025 By Eleanor Hoh Leave a Comment

The Dean of FIU Hospitality & Tourism Management, Professor Michael Cheng gave me a stamp of approval at Wok Star Supper Club collab with Ghee Wynwood. He’s also a fellow Malaysian, so of course we bonded over our favorite Malaysian dishes—and the sad lack of them here in Miami. Stay tuned… we’re brewing up something at FIU!

Wok Star Eleanor and Dean FIU Hospitality, Professor Michael Cheng

I got so wrapped up making sure everyone was having a good time (and organizing group shots!) that I completely forgot to take videos.

One of my favorite parts of hosting these is curating the guest list—pairing like-minded folks at the table. A last-minute reservation from a hospitality finance guy ended up sitting with two chefs and an Event Producer and Wok Star! Perfect mix.

Everyone raved about the 3-course, 13-dish Tasting Menu! I shared fan favorites from 1st & 2nd course! Thank goodness my friend captured some beautiful food shots.

🥁Thanks Chef Niven & Shivani and partner Mo for wonderful collaboration.

🥁Thanks to GM Mariana and the whole team for making it go so smoothly!

🥂Thanks to Pietro Morelli sponsoring Dona Rosalba rosé! So many have begged to purchase but be patient, soon!

It meant so much to receive messages like these after…

“Such a great event! You outdid yourself, Eleanor!! The food and company were both outstanding! Great connections. Thank you again for all your hard work doing this.” — Tobie

“All of it was very good down to the desserts. We’ll be looking forward to our next meet up.” — Love, Gayle & Kirk

Nights like these remind me why I started the Wok Star Supper Club in the first place—to bring interesting people together over great food and meaningful conversation. Can’t wait to share what’s next! 🥢🥢🥢
