Look forward to sample the rest!  Hope to see you there. I won’t be giving any demos as some think, just enjoying for a change!
On Saturday, August 11 South Florida’s finest artisan food vendors will come together for a one-day Artisan Food Fest at the Coral Gables Museum. Tropical Fruit Meets Tropical Fish – South Florida’s Finest
If you’ve not been to Chef Julie Frans’ Seasonal Supper, you really need to. The last Seasonal Supper I went to was sensational!  My photos didn’t turn out that great cause it was dark.
This Thursday’s theme is Tropical Fruit Meets Tropical Fish – South Florida’s Finest. Check out the mouth-watering menu, Chef Julie likes to incorporate Asian flavors into many of her dishes, so I’m eager to taste.  I can’t wait to experience another intimate supper at Essensia.  Met some old and new friends! For reservations, call 305-908-5490.  The menu looks a bit small right? Sorry, menu sounds like a winner.
P.S.  I can’t wait to see their organic garden which only started last year.
P.P.S. I wrote about Chef Julie for a British magazine, VIVA which got published this past February, here’s the online version!  Food shots were taken by my good friend, Brenda Benoit Dudley whose photography I admire so much.  So vibrant and jumps out at you.

Keep visiting for more updates for July!

Shelley Belly’s Underground Supper Club!

Wow, wow, wow!  This ‘underground supper club’ my husband and I went to is exactly how we like to ‘experience’ a dinner.  Small and intimate so you get to know your fellow diners in beautiful surroundings and get pampered in the highest order. Sneak peek to highlights of this extraordinary and delicious dinner.  Anytime it includes my favorite piggy dish is a plus – a slab of pork belly which rhymes with Shelley Belly, the name of your host!

Here’s her blog for more on her Underground Supper Club.  Next will be Saturday, July 21st.  shelleybellyunderground@yahoo.com for full details and let her know Wok Star sent you!  Don’t delay, it’s a first come, first served basis and you need a password to get access when you arrive which I nearly forgot, what fun!

The Bookstore in the Grove

This event will be emceed by my new friend & Wok Star, Pamela Lear who I met at an Underground Dinner mentioned above!  A showcase of 6 local self-published authors who’ll share their stories with a moderated Q & A session.   It’s an intimate space offering drinks and bites.

Hot off the presses – Common Threads and LegalArt are teaming up for a first of its kind pairing event on Thursday, March 29. There will be delicious food, amazing art, great cocktails, and lots of music. Is there anything else one could ask for? Didn’t think so. (right out of the mouth of Olee Fowler, a Common Threads board member).

Chow Down Surfside closing and pop up restaurant by Gastropod, Chef Jeremiah opening!
Read all about it here. I do think turning Chow Down Grill into Josh’s Deli is a perfect fit for Surfside. I know the demographic and I think it will be a HUGE success. It’s funny how we take things for granted. When we know we can’t have something, we want it and want it NOW! I always say, when one door closes, another opens.

I look forward to Chef Jeremiah of Gastropod doing a pop restaurant for a couple of weeks before they turn into a Deli. I first met him at a Cobaya (an underground supper club).
From the mouth of Chef Jason, residing chef at Chow Down Grill Surfside, the last day will be March 28, so run and get your last fix of some of my many favs there: housemade creamy tofu, smoked duck, chopped salad, chicken dumplings, Coca Cola Pork Ribs, oh, Angus Beef. Any bread pudding is yummy. I think I’ve tried everything on their menu from the look of this!
Just remember, you can still get same menu at their South Beach location.
