I’ve volunteered to give an easy, one-dish stir fry class at Diabetes Camp for Miami Children’s Hospital. Since becoming type 2 prediabetic myself, I am passionate about sharing what I’ve learned with kids and adults so they can get off medication. Easier than you think. If you know of any organizations, I’ll be happy to discuss giving a cooking demonstration.

Cooking Classes in Florida & Beyond!

June 7, 2015 By Eleanor Hoh Leave a Comment

I’ve gathered a comprehensive list of cooking classes in S. Florida for you! Cooking classes are a great way to meet new people especially if you’re new in town (you really get to meet the “locals”.) There’s nothing like learning a style of cooking in a short period of time.

Reading a recipe from a cookbook sounds so boring and lonely. It’s you with a list of ingredients and directions to follow but a good instructor can make a dish come to life and show you tips and tricks that make all the difference between a mediocre dish and an outstanding dish!

Attended a class you’ve enjoyed and it’s not listed here? Share in the comments and I’ll check it out and add to the list.

As far as I know, I’m the only cooking teacher in Florida offering a unique visual roadmap to cooking rather than teaching recipes, hence you only need one cooking class with me!  However, I am developing classes to show more wonderful ways of using your cast iron wok!  This will only be available to Wok Stars (i.e. folks who already know my visual roadmap and own their own Wok Star Kit.)
Classes for Italian Asian fusion, making fritatta in the oven, curry salmon, my mom’s chicken curry and from S. E. Asia, Malaysian street food Char Kuey Teow, pineapple fried rice, pork belly stews, easy soups, the list is endless.

If you’re a Wok Star and interested in a particular type of class, shoot me a suggestion in the comment!

A roving pop-up dinner club exploring the food and culture of the Middle East is a collaboration between writer Sara Liss and Maude Eaton, a food and beverage consultant and founder of South Florida Foodies.
“Not many people realize that Arabic food influenced Southern Italy but it’s there in the culinary history of Sicily. So we’re focusing on that intersection of Arabic spices and techniques with traditional Sicilian cooking,” says Liss.

I’ve attended their supper club and it’s a lot of fun with great company and outstanding food! I wish I could attend but taking a food photography, writing course, see below.
