Golden Week will be an upscale traditional Chinese feast. To start, enjoy a supreme dim sum platter of abalone shumai with caviar; Crispy Eggplants with dried fish floss and more. Entrees include braised Boston lobster in superior stock; wok-fried rib-eye beef with lotus root and black pepper and fried rice with diced abalone. They will donate all proceeds to a local not-for-profit organization that is working to fight breast cancer and raise awareness for breast cancer, a disease which affects so many women in our community. MIAMI SPICE
August 1 – September 30

Miami Spice is here! It’s a great way to get introduced to restaurants you normally would find a bit pricey. Lunches run $23 and dinner $39 for 3 courses. Be sure you reserve and mention Miami Spice menu and notice the list on their site is divided for lunch and dinner! Not all restaurants are doing both.
We were invited to a tasting at Quality Meats and it was off the charts! This restaurant would be my top pick if you are an carnivore! Here’s what I thought about it!

Another of my favs is Hakkasan not so much for their dim sum since they already do a super weekend dim sum lunch for about the same price but for dinner, it’s a steal! Take a look at my last HOH WOK CLUB gathering at Hakkasan for Chinese New Year Yum Cha and everyone adored it, what a deal.

Feast Miami: Vegan Flavors of India

FEAST Miami is a series of vegan pop-up events at art venues to financially support new & emerging creative projects. Artists & small arts organizations are invited to present a simple proposal for an art project. A group of panelists will select FIVE (5) finalists to present their project at FEAST. The eventgoers will vote for the project to be funded.
Projects are innovative, feasible and impact the community. The meals will be healthfully prepared with organic and locally sourced foods by Chef Loren Pulitzer of Meals That Heal.

Explosive beats, over-the-top BBQ, and a massive fireworks display across the South Beach sky, celebrated at each of the twelve Nikki Beach locations across the world, Fourth of July Nikki Beach-style has become legendary. This year, IndepenDance DJ’s include Boris, Cocodrills, Vanjee and many more. Guests can recline on the beach club’s luxurious day beds or sit with their toes in the sand teepee-side while watching the night sky.

Feast on eight different kinds of burgers – from The St. Tropez Foie Gras Burger, featuring seared foie gras, sautéed mushrooms and a fried egg, to the ‘Meeerrrica Burger featuring American cheese and pork belly bacon smashed between two glazed donuts or St. Barth’s surf and turf burger, an 8 oz. angus beef with grilled shrimp and medallion onions.

Dinner Lab, the world’s largest pop-up supper club is expanding their membership base in Miami. Unlike the current membership, they are creating a new community membership that is free to join and provides access to their dinners and their amazing network of people. They are currently in 33 states and has been operating in Miami since 2014. Simply put, they believe in bringing diverse people together over food to create an amazing experience, lasting friendships, and unique memories that can’t be recreated. (I so agree, that’s how I feel about my cooking classes!)

Diabetes Camp for Miami Children’s Hospital

I’ve volunteered to give an easy, one-dish stir fry class at Diabetes Camp for Miami Children’s Hospital. Since becoming type 2 prediabetic myself, I am passionate about sharing what I’ve learned with kids and adults so they can get off medication. Easier than you think. If you know of any organizations, I’ll be happy to discuss giving a cooking demonstration.
